Red Hawk Casino Gambling Age
Red Hawk Casino announced Tuesday that it will close to limit the risk of the novel coronavirus spreading. The casino said in a release the closure will begin Wednesday. The casino also said co. One of these larger casinos is the Red Hawk Casino in Placerville, 30 miles east of Sacramento in the foothills of the Sacramento Valley. Some Indian casinos here permit players 18 years of age and older but you do need to be 21 to gamble at the Red Hawk.
It's fancy. It's schmancy. And Red Hawk Casino in Placerville (El Dorado County) is the newest gambling establishment in Northern California. Considering the facility is the first in the state to offer on-site day care for kids up to age 12, one could argue it's a great place for the whole family.
The history
Red Hawk opened in December, so it doesn't have much history to speak of yet. The casino is owned by the Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians and operated by Minnesota-based Lakes Entertainment. Though Lakes doubled its revenue after the casino opened, the facility has not been immune to economic slowdowns - it cut 250 jobs earlier this year.
The games
Red Hawk has a plethora of gaming options. Table games are the main attraction - more than 75 in all. Highlights include a variety of blackjack options (single-deck, double-deck, multi-deck and Blackjack Switch), three-card poker and pai gow poker with a side bet that pays more when the dealer has a particularly lousy hand. There also are a few tables of card-based roulette, Let It Ride and baccarat. The facility has about 2,000 slot machines, including a host of progressives and video poker. One thing that's noticeably absent: a poker room.
The layout
Architects built the casino unobtrusively into the back of a hillside west of Highway 50, and the structure is more or less shaped like an upside-down U. The casino is on the top floor of this structure, with slots and table games in the center and restaurants around the edge. One floor below sits Kids Quest, an on-site day care complex complete with an indoor playground, (non-violent) video arcade and special cafe. The remaining floors of the building house a covered parking garage; parking is free.
The feel
Dark wood paneling and red felt on the gaming tables combines to create a feeling of sophistication. Dozens of small flat-screen televisions situated around the gaming area are a nice touch. Toss in a cadre of efficient cocktail servers, and if you didn't know better, you'd think the place was smack dab in the middle of the Las Vegas Strip. A bonus: Many of the restaurants have breathtaking views of the Sierra foothills.
The eats
With six - count them, six - restaurants on site, there's something for everyone. Henry's Steakhouse is a classic steakhouse, while Koto Grille offers more eclectic American fare. Wai Sushi and Seafood, the Waterfall Buffet and Two Rivers Cafe are other options. During my visit, I dined at Pearl Asian Cuisine, a pan-Asian restaurant that rivals any restaurant in San Francisco's Chinatown. Try the salt-and-pepper squid.
The nuts
Don't let the marketing campaign fool you: Though Red Hawk bills itself as 'the easiest casino to get to from the Bay Area,' that schlep to Placerville can be interminable if you time it wrong. Still, the chic vibe and diversity of games make the place worth the trip.

The State of California is home to many casinos, all run by Indian tribes on their land. California is a huge market, and the people here love to gamble. The state has only seen fit to issue licenses for card rooms which are only able to offer poker, and although California is the poker capital of the United States by far, many people prefer to gamble at slots and traditional table games as well.
While the State of California initially tried to block Indian tribes from offering other types of gambling besides poker on their lands, the matter became settled by the Supreme Court of the United States who decided that the Indians do have the right to do so, and this ushered in the explosion of Indian gaming across the country.
California has always been at the forefront of this and there are now many casinos in the state, and some very big ones as well. One of these larger casinos is the Red Hawk Casino in Placerville, 30 miles east of Sacramento in the foothills of the Sacramento Valley.
Some Indian casinos here permit players 18 years of age and older but you do need to be 21 to gamble at the Red Hawk. It opened in December 2008, and not only has a large casino floor, a world class size in fact, it is of very high quality and consistently gets very good reviews from its guests. The casino here is also entirely non smoking which many guests appreciate.
It didn’t take long for them to make a name for themselves, and in a few short years, the Red Hawk Casino has racked up an impressive collection of awards, including winning the award for the best casino in the Sacramento area for the last 5 years running, as well as other local casino awards. It is the cream of the crop as far as casinos in the Sacramento Valley go and is one of California’s best casinos overall as well.

There is no hotel here, and there’s no real need for one as the players here pretty much all come from the area, as they are located in a metropolitan area of over 2 million people, but those who are coming for an overnight visit will have no trouble finding accommodations at a nearby location.
The goal of Indian casinos in California has been to offer high quality casino gambling within easy driving distance, to capture a lot of the folks that used to go to Vegas, and while Las Vegas does offer an experience that Indian casinos really can’t match, the bigger casinos anyway deliver all the casino fun one could desire without the expense of having to travel, and the Red Hawk is certainly in this class.
The Features of the Red Hawk Casino
Guests here are treated to free valet parking, and right from the outset it’s clear that the staff here are dedicated to making your stay with them an enjoyable one. They also feature a covered and lighted parking garage with 3,000 spots, telling you right there that this is a hot spot indeed that attracts a lot of people.
Many guests bring their kids along, no need to hire a babysitter when you come here though, as the staff of the Red Hawk will take care of them upstairs at the Kids Quest facility, providing supervised children’s entertainment as well as child care services for kids six weeks to 12 years old.
Kids of all ages are also welcome at Cyber Quest, a non violent children’s arcade that will keep your kids plenty entertained while you enjoy yourselves downstairs at their casino.
Those looking for authentic Native American crafts will enjoy checking out Red Hawk Traders, which also offers Red Hawk branded merchandise. If it’s live entertainment you seek, the Stage Bar features live acts nightly which you can enjoy over your favorite drinks.
There are 5 restaurants on hand to tend to your dining needs, starting with Henry’s Steakhouse and Mahogany Bar, specializing in steaks, seafood, lamb, and poultry, with a selection of 500 different bottles of wine.

The Casino at Red Hawk Casino
Red Hawk Casino is of course first and foremost a casino, and this is why people come here, and they get one of the largest casinos in the state and in the country as well to enjoy.
The 2,100 slot machines they have on hand here is right up there with the biggest Indian casinos in the state and even more than you tend to find at even the biggest casinos on the Las Vegas strip.
They have a large selection of everything from classic slot machines to the latest in video slots and video poker machines, and also feature a high limit area where you can play for the real big bucks and get even more special treatment from the staff while doing so.
In addition to the 91 high limit slots in the High Limit area, you’ll also find some high limit table games, to ensure that the high rollers can bet big stakes on table games as well.
There are 75 table games in total at this casino, which include single and double deck Blackjack, Fortune Pai Gow, Mystery Card Roulette, Three Card Poker, World Poker Tour All In Holdem, Let It Ride, EZ Baccarat, Mini Baccarat, and Blackjack Switch.

Red Hawk does not have the luxury of having a steady flow of short term occasional visitors like big resorts do. Since they cater to the local traffic pretty much exclusively, if they don’t do a great job making their players happy, they won’t come back, but they keep coming back to Red Hawk, they keep winning awards for their great casino, and that speaks pretty loudly to the quality of the experience here.
